Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Constipation could be caused due to various reasons. In an elderly people low colonic mobility due to ageing could be reason of severe constipation. Factors like diet, hormonal disorders such as hypothyroidism, side effects of medications may also be the reason of low colonic mobility. Sometimes obstruction in intestine could be responsible but if that was the reason it would be found-out in colonoscopy.
There may be several things that may be done to improve colonic movement of food
1. Increase water intake. one should try to drink between 8 and 10 glasses of water or noncaffeinated beverages each day.
2. Increase the fibre in your diet. Include raw fruits, vegetables, bran, oats & other whole grains in diet as they are rich in natural fibre.
3. Try gentle exercise & Take a short walk each day. This would be helpful in improving bowel movements.
4. Try a stool softener, such as Colace, if your stools are very hard. Alternatively laxatives could also be used.

As per my knowledge, Endosopy is not required in cases of constipation. If you want it done you could get it done by paying charges of 2000-3000 in any good hospital in Mumbai.

Refer to a gastroenterologist
Hope this information helps
