What Causes Severe Constipation In An Infant?

Hi doctor, my son is 15 month old..h had chicken pox for last one .week..he is having problem while stooling.he is straining too much crying a lot..but only little watery stool is coming out.after straining too much he becomes weakThis repeats for 8 to 9 times a day..we tried inserting suppository ..but it didn t work. He is eating little food...breast milk & little goats milk .please help....

Hi there,

The problem is that he is extremely dehydrated, likely from the fact that he had chicken pox. You need to get him rehydrated and this will help soften his stools. Water, gatorade or pedialyte will help him. I'd really get hi well hydrated and work on making sure he is urinating quite a bit and the stools will come to follow.
