Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son was playing in the dirt yesterday evening. The dirt in our flower bed was really dry and was kicking up a ton of dust but he was having fun so I allowed it. Last night at bed he was coughing quite a bit before he fell asleep. He woke up 4 hours later with a persistent cough which took an hour to settle down before he fell asleep again. He sounded conjested but when I aspirated his nose there was no mucus which makes me think it has to do with his lungs. Could playing in the dirt and inhaling dirt cause the cough? Should I be taking him in to get checked?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe cough after playing in dust which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection or allergic reaction caused by death . You should take antibacterial drugs such as Levofloxacin or benadryl along with anti-inflammatory drug. Take diet rich in multivitamins. Drink plenty of water. Take hot milk rich in turmeric as it will boost immunity. Take nimesulide along with paracetamol. Apply wet cold sheets on your head to lower down body temperature. Your symptoms will resolve in 4-5 days. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get some routine blood investigation done. You should get x-ray chest done and get it examined.
