What Causes Severe Cough And Cold After Doing A 2 Mile Run?

Hi, I m James. I m currently living in the Northern desert of Kuwait. I went on a really hard 2 mile run sunday night, and since then, I ve been having coughing fits. I believe it s due to all the sand and dust in the air. Symptoms are: a strep throat-like feeling, coughing fits (worse recently), and a head cold. I m taking Dayquil in hopes to stay the cold symptoms, and I m wrapping up my face to prevent further development. What can I do/what can I take?

It is due to the dust and pollutants in air. You need to take plenty of fluids, some rest and medications. If I was your treating physician I would have prescribed you Azithromycin 500 mg once daily by mouth and Claritin by mouth twice daily for 7days. Its a respiratory tract infection and will be better soon. I would have definitely followed you up after 10days of first visit to my clinic.
