What Causes Severe Cough And Difficulty In Talking?
Hello............I have a frequent cough that is violent, cannot talk, causes gagging and to stop it, I have to suck on a cough drop or hard candy. Following the Coughing fit, I have to blow my nose and mucous does come out. Then it is all over until I get Angry or Upset and start again. I have had this for years. My Husband calls it my nervous cough. It is becoming more frequent and wearing me out. What can I do? P.S. I have been to throat doctors about it and they all say Asthma or I need to see a Vocal Chord Specialist which I have not done or Gerd. I am a Female 73 years old.
Hi. Thanks for your query. You have an atypical presentation of vasomotor rhinitis and you have to continue with ENT Surgeon. This condition can be controlled by medicines but at the same time if you get an ENT Surgeon with interest in Rhinology, he can do a neurectomy and you may get well forever, Try to find one, talk to ENT Surgeons about this method of treating. Asthma is a different problem altogether and if you have you have to continue treatment of that too.
