What Causes Severe Cough And Discomfort In The Lungs?

Hello, I don t have insurance so I can t go to the doctor but I have a very deep dry cough, that once it starts can last about three to four minutes of constant coughing before I can regain control. During these coughing spasms I ve noticed the lower part of my lungs feel the same way as when a stomach grumbles when a person is hungry. This has gone on now for four days. Two days ago I had a fever that reached 102.3°F and the fever lasted about eight or nine hours. After the fever went away I formed a rash along my arms, back and from my lower ribs down to my waist line. This rash has spots on it that look similar to sunburn blisters. Also, if anything slightly touches any place the rash is it feels as if someone his pressing a warm object against my skin. I ve noticed if I lay on my back I induce a coughing spasm but not if I lay on my stomach. I m curious if you re able to help me figure out what s going on and if there is anything I can do to help relive this issue.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe cough and discomfort in the lungs which could be due to upper respiratory tract infection along with impaired immunity of body and increased susceptibility of getting infected.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and betadine gargles alternatively and avoid eating spicy and heavy food. You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory Levocetirizine and prescribe you inhalers as well. You should start on continuous use of inhalers for few days and gradually slow it down once your condition will be better.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
