What Causes Severe Cough In The Mornings?

Hi Doctor, i am 48 years old healthy male with no history of any illness and not any kind of medication and never have been. Few days ago I had an early morning hard cough. while coughing I felt like something was pulled in the lowest rib on the left side of my body. Then the pain was severe and I was not able to bend over to put on my shows or pick up any thing. same evening I went to Jacuzzi for about 1 hour. The pain became less but it is still there and coughing or sneezing is very difficult and creates sever pain in the lowest left rib area. Even when I press the ares (the lowest rib) I feel the sharp pain. I have to do an ultrasound and Xray tomorrow but was wondering what it could possibly be? Thanks.

Hi,
It seems that you might be having bronchitis giving this problem.
In the morning due to collection of cough in lower part of lungs gives irritation and more coughing.
Due to spasmodic cough there might be having heavy strain in chest muscles giving severe pain in chest during cough reflex and pain as well.
Take some cough syrup to get symptomatic relief.
Take some analgesic medicine for pain as well.
Ok and take care.
