What Causes Severe Cough Leading To Difficulty Breathing?

I have not been sick lately, but I have had a very bad cough going on. It has caused me to not be able to breath to the point where my friend thinks I am having asthma attack but I do not have asthma. Also recently, I coughed so much and so bad that I ending up throwing up but not being sick afterwards. I don t know what could be causing this?

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Read and understood that you were never sick as such but the chronic cough is making a problem to the point that breathing becomes difficult.
This is the classical symptom of asthma unless proved otherwise and the best diagnostic tool is the clinical evaluation and physical examination by means of a stethoscope done by a Doctor.
Auscultation can give a typical sound of rhochi and an additional PFT (Pulmonary Function test) and an X-ray chest to rule out any problem gives perfect diagnosis and treatment.

Get all these things done and you will be fine.
