What Causes Severe Cough Post An Exposure To Burnt Plastic Fumes?
A week ago a plastic spatula melted in my dishwasher. It filled the whole house with a burnt plastic odor and I had to let the house air out all night. That said, I was exposed to this during the airing out, and also when I opened the dishwasher to investigate. Ever since that night, basically for the last week, I often auto-reflex cough when exhaling because of an irritation in my throat. It s a tickling/burning irritation that automatically makes me cough when exhaling about once every 5-10 minutes or so throughout the day. Should I go see a doctor about this? If so, what would the examination be like? Or should I just give this more time to see if it goes away? Thanks.
Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Arun's Response
Hello, Thank you for your contact to healthcare magic. I understand your health concern, if I am your doctor I suggest you that nothing to worry. Give some times to get recovered. When you exposed to fumes it causes irritation in the respiratory tract. But when you give some time this irritation goes away..
I will be happy to answer all your future concern. Thank you, Dr Arun Tank Infectious disease specialist. Wish you a best health at health care magic.
