What Causes Severe Cough, Post-nasal Drip And Sore Throat?

I m a 23 year old female who has been suffering from a hacking cough, post nasal drip, and a sore throat for the past five days. I initially went to the doctor two days after I began feeling sick and was prescribed prednisone, biaxin, and cough syrup. The coughing has not gotten any better and I can t stop even with cough syrup. It s very annoying and I have coughed so much that my right side is sore. I have a tickely feeling in my upper chest which urges me to cough as hard as I can but hardly any phlegm comes up. I wonder if it could be something more concerning or if I need a chest x Ray?

Hi,
It seems that you might be having respiratory tract infection producing irritating cough.
As antibiotic medicine started, wait for 2-3 days more to work antibiotic fully.
After infe3ction subsides, you will feel better.
Continue cough sedative syrup.
Ok and take care.
