What Causes Severe Cough, Tightness In The Neck And Headache?

I have ben diagnosed with an aneurysm on left proximal middle cerebral or internal carotid artery at approx. 7mm. I have had all the test and an angiogram and they think it is to much of a risk to use coils to fix it because it also involves a vessel. they are talking about possibly clipping it or just monitoring it for awhile. I m 59 weigh 205 lbs and 5 foot 8 have smoked since was 17 and have done drugs including cocaine about 25 or so years ago for about a 10 year period. I have had pnemonia, bronchitis, sinus infection and ear in infection all since the begging of Sept. And had a pain on the right side of y head for approx. 3 weeks straight during this time. That s how they found the aneurism. But they say there are really no symtoms for aneurisms. I am well not but still have a bad cough. I also have pain in head of and on as well as a tightening in my neck .And many time little sharp pains shooting from my neck. I also have 2 bulging disks in my neck. Are these symtoms of the bulging disks or maybe a pinched nerve? I don t feel I can continue like this if they choose to monitor because I will not know if these a symtoms of the aneurism bleeding.

Hello,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
