What Causes Severe Cramps In Thigh?

I have been getting bad cramp like pains in my left thigh & left calf down to my left foot. Predominately in my thigh, it came on whilst sat on the sofa this evening, had it for the past hour. I am on no medication, I am a female aged 41. Any ideas what it is? I have not had any injuries or sprains.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Experiencing severe cramps in the thighs could be due to muscular spasms caused by calcium deficiency.
Kindly take analgesic with muscle relaxant combination like Diclofenac with Chloroxazone after food and apply analgesic gel topically.
Also supplement calcium intake in the form of syrup or chew-able tablets regularly.
Your symptoms should subside gradually.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
