What Causes Severe Discomfort In The Lungs Of A COPD Patient?

I have chronic COPD. One doctor prescribe this for me and another said I should t take it. At the moment I have familiar discomfort in my lungs. Can I start take this medicine for what is probably the beginnings of pneumonia. Would like to avoid a trip to the er until I can get to the doctor on Monday?
