What Causes Severe Dizziness And Numbness In The Hand?
my husband started having really severe dizziness and numbness in hands about 20 hours ago, but the episodes only last a few seconds. he is 67 yrs old and takes meds for bp, cholesterol and Lexapro. he has been taking all the above for years. could this be a side effect of med. after all this time? what are symptoms of elevated potassium levels? he lives on raisins, he does not drink or smoke.

As per your query severe dizziness and numbness in the hand can occur due to many reasons like middle ear infection , Meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma or low blood iron or sugar level . The symptoms can also occur due to cervical spondylosis or piched nerve .You should not ignore this , because sometimes the condition get complicated. You should consult with your ENT specialist and get evaluated. Doctor may order audiometry test and tuning fork test and treat it accordingly. Doctor may recommend you to start with antibiotics, steroids and labrynthine sedatives for 5 to 7 weeks. you should go for vestibular rehabilitation exercises. For now do mind relaxing exercises like meditation and take proper rest . Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon.
