What Causes Severe Drowsiness And Tiredness While On Nifedipine?

Started 30mg time release nifedipine couple weeks ago for Raynaud s Syndrome. Working well. Relief Day 1. BUT - 1st day experienced vertical diplopia about 5 minutes/recovered. Nothing since. Now, daily drowsiness, feeling tired is irksome because I ve been doing well losing weight, gradually, steadily, and walking at a decent pace is part of what has been a positive experience. Now, feels like I m un-retired and back at work. :-]

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, Raynaud's phenomenon alongwith these symptoms can't be drug induced only but can necessitate work up for other auto immune diseases and vasculitis workup. A detailed Rheumatologist review is a must.

Nifedipine is usually not associated with the current side effects except for overt hypotension which is also rare to be this symptomatic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
