What Causes Severe Dry Cough And Headache In A Child?

My grandson has a dry hacking cough, clammy feeling, low temp. Giving him cough syrup for the cough and breathing treatments (he had to have them before) but still no help. He coughs so bad sometimes it makes either his neck, throat, or gives him a head ache,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your grandson have symptoms of severe dry cough and headache which seems to be due to lung infection leading to upper respiratory tract infection / bronchitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- You should give child cough expectorants.

- You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day.

- You should avoid cold carbonated beverages.

- Apply mist humidifiers in room.

- Take antibiotic Levofloxacin along with Anti-inflammatory medication such as Levocetirizine.

Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should get pulmonary function tests and X-ray chest done. Start treatment after thorough examination.
