My scalp has become very dry, I have flaking like dandruff, and my scalp looks on the white side. I am using head and shoulders, it has helped somewhat, but my scalp still feels rough. Can stress cause this to happen, and my hair is thinner too. My e-mail address is YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
The reason why you are experiencing symptoms such as dryness on your scalp is due to inflammation of the skin called dermatitis.
Kindly do the following to overcome the symptoms.
1. Take head bath alternate days for 1 month using shampoo containing Ketoconazole.
2. Twice a week use shampoo containing Salicylic acid.
3. Once a week use shampoo containing Selenium and Zinc.
You should be able to overcome the problem of dryness in a month's time. Kindly continue the same for another 2 to 3 months for preventing such symptoms.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
