What Causes Severe Ear And Shoulder Pain?

Hi, my name is Kerri, I am 27 years old and I live in the UK. I had an MRI of my brain 16 months ago as I had been suffering with unexplained ear pain for a year and the doctor at the ear, nose and throat clinic referred me for a scan at the hospital. When I received the results a month later I was told that the MRI had shown that I can a compressed vertebral artery of the medulla and it is something that I have probably had since birth. The reason I am contacting you is because I have been suffering with really bad neck and shoulder pain for nearly four years, when I gently press of my shoulders it feel as though someone is stabbing me with a sharp knife. Could this compressed artery be the cause of my neck pain?

The cause of severe pain in the shoulder and neck is likely due to the compressed artery.

The pain can be managed using prescription medication for pain like hydrocodone; you can consult your treating doctor to discuss the problem in detail.

In meantime, you can use over the counter medication like panadol, and use a warm compress to get relief from pain.
