What Causes Severe Ear Pain In A Child?

My 7 year old son has an ear tube in his ear. It never fell out so he is having surgery in August to have it removed. He has been sticking finger in that ear for a week and said it was hurting tonight. I looked in his ear with a flashlight and can see something white. If I can see it than do you think it could be the tube falling out ? It seems like I wouldn t be able to see infection material w my naked eye?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Possibility of fungal or bacterial infection responsible for visible white stuff in the middle ear, and it is not the tube falling out.

* He requires the prescription of antibiotics as penicillin or others, anti-fungal as fluconazole and supportive medications to cure at earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
