Back ground - 70 year old man, nearly 50 years of smoking 2 packs a day, last 15 years a fairly heavy drinker. He s had a hernia big enough to drive a truck through for about 15 years. Will NOT go to a doctor. 8 weeks ago he had a pain, lower right side of back then traveled up his spine to under his right arm constant enough so he couldn t lie down, not even to sleep. That finally eased. He quit smoking and drinking cold turkey right after that. However for the last 7 plus weeks he has been very lethargic, sleeping or lying on the couch most of the time. Very bad breath and sometimes bad overall odor. He used to eat twice what I did, now he only eats about half of what I eat. The last week he has been having chills. The least little exertion seems to exhaust him. I repeat, He will NOT go to a doctor.
