What Causes Severe Fatigue And Drowsiness After Having Food?

After I eat a meal (nothing light or heavy, low carbs), I experiences loss of energy, fatigued, drowsy within 30 minutes of eating. Within an hour or more, without eating, suddenly my energy returns, drowsiness leaves, and I am able to move! I assumed this is insulin resistance. It comes in spells, more now than before. Any suggestions? I am having some closet calls when driving, missing days of work or getting behind with work because of what stated above.

It could be the early stages of insulin resistance. At that point, the insulin level goes very high after eating then there is a consequent low blood sugar. This is verifiable by checking the sugar at the time of the symptoms.

Actually, post-prandial drowsiness is quite common. It is called "Thanksgiving syndrome" and can be from a lower blood pressure due to blood going to the gut for digestion, or just a response to eating a lot of food without any abnormality being found.

eating less calories fixes it.
