What Causes Severe Fatigue And Headaches While Suffering From Diabetes?

Hello. My name is Lee. My girlfriend has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. She was told to monitor her levels and try to keep them under 100. Her symptoms extreme fatigue, headaches, no weight gain, pain in the left side abdominal region, and nausea. So I read up. Best I could tell that at fasting her blood sugar should be at a range of 100 hers is between 70 and 80. After some meals 102 and 120. I realize that is a spike but normal blood sugar levels after a meal should be between 130 and 160. So I am very confused. I do understand there are many factors in this and I don t think she has been completely honest with her doctors. I m really leaning to a problem in the pancreas. Please help

Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what your friend had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, her symptoms can solely because of diabetes however with such pains and other symptoms, gastric inflammation like gastritis or acid peptic disease should be ruled out.

Also, an ultrasound abdomen should be done to rule out signs of gallbladder pathology or pancreatitis as you suspect. A surgical or Gastroenterologist review can be helpful.

Meanwhile, diabetes controlled should be ensured with good food compliance and drugs intake. However Metformin usage with these symptoms should be reviewed after consulting her primary care physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
