What Causes Severe Fatigue, Brittle Splitting Nails And Lumps On Neck?

Hi, I m 53 female, competitive cyclist. Recently performance levels have dropped, finger nails splitting and I ve been feeling excessively tired. Couple of weeks ago had some small lumps on side of neck. Had some menopause type symptoms last year but only mild night sweats. Had blood test but hormone levels still non menopausal. Diet pretty good - eat meat veg and dairy. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A viral infection may cause an abrupt change in energy and even lumps on the neck. If your symptoms last more than 2-3 weeks or you are any worse you will need a good general examination and possibly some blood tests such as CBC, ERS, TSH, FT4 and basic metabolic profile to make sure all is well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
