Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Fatigue, Excessive Sleepiness And Numbness In The Right Arm?
My friend is a male 31 years old, 5 6 , 145 lbs. he having extreme fatigue, sleeping 18 hours per day. Numbness on his right arm and side. Tingingly feet, lower legs, and abodominal pain. He can fall asleep at a stop light. He has had a general check and his blood is good, heart shows normal pressure. His doctor has told him that she cannot find anything wrong with him. Could it by a hidden disease such as Addisons or might it be a consealed heart condition?
In my opinion, there is no reason to be worried and usually, this is just temporary and self-limiting. Excessive daytime sleepiness is common issues and should be considered in this case.
Excessive daytime sleepiness may be caused by conditions such as sleep deprivation, metabolic disturbances, sleep apnoea, medications, neurological disorders such as seizures and psychiatric disorders such as depression. If emotional causes are ruled out then some tests can be done to confirm the diagnosis.
In my opinion, polysomnography (sleep study), is one of the necessary examinations in order to achieve a correct diagnosis. Please discuss with primary care Doctor about these issues.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
