What Causes Severe Fatigue Post Having A Total Hysterectomy?

I am 57 years old, active and healthy, but had a laparoscopic total hysterectomy, including tubes and ovaries, two and a half weeks ago. I m supposed to go back to work on Monday, but wondering if that is realistic considering how extremely tired I still feel. My energy runs out after doing small things like loading dishwasher, feeding pets and all I want to do is lay down with an ice bag on my belly. Also, my concern is if it is safe yet to drive the fifteen minutes to my office?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

If you haven't recovered yet , no one should stop you from taking some more time off. Make sure your doctor has prescribed all the supplements you need to help replenish all the lost blood and fluids and also all the hormones you need that are now deficient in your body.

Take another week off, and with the supplements you should be able to drive and work much better.

Best wishes.
