What Causes Severe Fatigue When Diagnosed With A Stroke?

My father is 90 years old and in good shape. He walks with a cane but exercises and keeps his mind sharp. On Friday he woke up very tires, could not get out of bed or walk. We took him to the hospital. They ruled out a stroke. The chest xray and ekg came out great. The doctor said my dads blood work great. his numbers were better than my dad. They told us because they could not find anything they could not keep him. He still his very weak. What do you think it can be
