Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am feeling extremely exhausted, have been for 5 or 6 days. I am usually high energy. I work from home and am getting nothing done, tired and spacey. I am getting enough sleep. I have my physical in April and blood work showed everything ok. I did have several tick bites earlier this year but I don t believe any of the ticks were on me very long. I don t know which doctor to start with, I think the GP is just going to say everything looks fine..
Physical causes need to be ruled out by an assessment from your doctor. Some possible causes of fatigue/tiredness are:
(1)anemia- low blood count
(2)hypothyroidism- low levels of thyroid hormone
(3)electrolyte disorders
(4)side effect of medications though this does not seem to be an issue for you
(5)chronic illnesses conditions affecting the heart (heart failure), kidneys, liver, cancer
(6)depression- depressed mood can be associated with fatigue but this is only considered if other causes are ruled out.
It would be best to see your doctor for an assessment which should include physical examination, history and investigations such as complete blood count , ESR (checks for inflammation), thyroid function test. Additional tests would be done based on symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
