What Causes Severe Fatigue?

Thank you. I m male, 60 years, physically fit. However, have been suffering with fatigue and lack of motivation for awhile. I can drink a cup of coffee when I wake and go right back to sleep for 2 more hours, I will again awake and feel somewhat better but can go back to sleep again after 2 hours. This is effecting my livelihood and general well being. Thoughts?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Fatigue can occur due to several reasons like hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, anemia, cardiac issues etc. It is important to undergo detailed physical and laboratory evaluation to identify the underlying issue. Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider for detailed evaluation.

Regards

Dr. Lekshmi
