What Causes Severe Fatigue?

I have extreme fatigue which has lasred greater than 2 months. I am normally in good health, am 69 yo & have always been very active and was until the fatigue suddenly occurred. I normally mow my lawn, do my housework, walk greater than 2 or 3 miles a day in addition to volunteering 4 hours each week. I can no longer walk up the 17 stairs to my home without having to lie down for a few minutes afterward as well as lie down after taking a shower or prepare meals. I went to an MD who ran a few lab tests which she said was normal She listened to my heart & said no heart issues. She diagnosed depression & an antidepressant. I Ann not sad but am frustrated since Imy fatigue is the same if not worse. Should I seek a second opinion?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, there can be low hemoglobin, trace elements deficiency, cardiac issues or others.

A thorough clinical examination with basic lab tests, X-ray chest and EKG would be most conclusive for further guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
