What Causes Severe Fluctuation In Thyroid Levels While On Thyronorm?

Hi, am hypothyroid and taking thyronorm for past 2 years.. it was in the normal range and my doctor was adjusting the dosage accordingly.. in the month of july when i did the test tsh was 0.0001 so dosage was reduced to 50 mcg from 75 mcg.. i did test after a month and it was abnormally high 76. Am kind of worried what could be the reason? Please help

Hi,

You can repeat the test again to reconfirm the values.Such high levels may indicate autoimmune thyroid disease.Thyroid auto antibodies such as Thyroperoxidase (TPO), thyroglobulin (Tg) and the TSH receptor should be tested. Vitamin D and B12 deficiency has also been responsible for high TSH in patients.It should also be checked and corrected if applicable. Thyroxine dose should be raised and Thyroid profile should be repeated after 3 weeks.
