What Causes Severe Fluctuation Of The Blood Pressure?
I haave been having trouble with my blood pressure. I am 62 yrs old and have a family history of heart disease. My pressure dances all over the map. It can be 122/45 and then 136/ 56 or 122/41. It also at times will be 156/70or 170/70...not sure what is going on. My pulse ranges in the 52 to72 range. I use to be 120/80 for years but in the last 3 years it is a yo yo....When I go to the doctor I start to have' white coat sydrome' and my diastolic never dips as low as it does when I am just at the drug store taking it. I am visiting my doctor to check my high pressure (2nd viist). I do not feel dizzy while awake but do get dizzy in bed at times. I have degenerating disks in my neck and think that is what the dizziness is from but now starting to wonder? If I go on meds. for hight pressre won't this also make my diastolc go further down?
HI WELCOME TO HCM, The symptoms of dizziness in your case can be partly explained by coexisting cervical disc disease. An MRI spine can help to diagnose this entity accurately.Surgical treatment of laminectomy can offer permanent cure. The wide fluctuations in blood pressure in your case can be due to underlying stress and anxiety element. This can be reduced through drugs like alprazolam or lorazepam.Dose modification of antihypertensive drugs can reduce the fluctuations.Consult your doctor for further help, thank you
