What Causes Severe Gastritis Along With Bloating On Intake Of Onions?
My husband gets severe gas and bloating when eating anything with onions or onion powder. Today he ate a brisket that was rubbed with onion powder and other spices. He tries very hard to stay away from onions and onion powder but it got by him today. He suffering from extreme bloating and pain. Hecan t seem to pass gas and says he wouldfeel better if he could. Anyone have a suggestion to help relieve the bloating and pain?
Your husband is suggested to take sips of water with a few biscuits or bread, thereafter he can take PPIs, pantoprazole -Pan 40, one stat for relief. Such symptoms occur because of allergy or sensitivity to onions. The immune response or symptoms of allergy develop, thus causing bloating and discomfort.
He should take antihistamine at bed time to reduce other symptoms of allergy. He is instructed to avoid taking food that triggers his symptoms and also to quit smoking, cut on alcohol, avoid drugs and addictions if any. He should avoid taking spicy, oily food for a couple of days. Give him home made balanced nutritious food preferably boiled.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
