What Causes Severe Hair Fall After Stopped Taking Finasteride?

hi i have been diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia. The prescription provided by my doctor was Minoxidil solution 5 percent and finesteride 5 mg tablets for 3months.....ihave stopped taking finateride but i have severe hairfall now almost balding from the crown area... pls advise

Hi,

I can understand your concern for hair loss. Hair fall can be due to any long term illness or any emotional or stressful event and due to nutritional deficiency or hormonal influence.

After illness or stress and nutritional dysfunction it is quite common to get hair fall because of change of nutritional and hormonal status.

If I were your dermatologist then would have prescribed you tablet containing Acetylcysteine, Calcium Pantothenate, Selenium, Zinc, Biotin, Copper as active ingredients. You can take these vitamins in the form of biotin, calicium pantothenate and other vitamin B complexes.

Finesteride should not be stopped abruptly and should always be taken under dermatological supervision. Talk to your dermatologist for further details.
