What Causes Severe Headache And Body Ache After A Root Canal Treatment?

I had a root canal a week ago an had extreme pain in my teeth that night so the dentist prescribed an antibiotic and 3 advil and 2 Tylenol . I did that Friday and Saturday and fortunately the pain in my mouth went away but on Sunday sever head pain started and I have had that ever since along with exteme body pain in my back, shoulder area and lower back as well as pain even from chest to back . I am attributing the body feeling to the fact that I have literally been doing nothing excepting sitting or lying down for the last several days and I am used to being very active all day long - I go to the gym 6 days a week, I walk and I very rarely sit during the day.....I went to my doctor and he did blood work but it didn't reveal anything and he tested for lyme as well. He also had me cut out the Advil so I have been taking one Tylenol and one Tylenol sinus medicine thinking it might be sinus related even though I am not congested. When I wake up the last two days the pain in my head is lessened but not gone and as the day goes on it gets worse. Tomorrow I am headed to a Neurologist. Just wanted to see if you had any ideas?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of severe headache and body aches are not related to tooth related problems rather they are related some other issues like Migraine..

You are advised correctly to consult a Neurologist who can advise investigation like MRI Scan to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now you should take sufficient rest, continue Tylenol and avoid stress..
Eat well and drink plenty of water...

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
