What Causes Severe Headache And Constipation After FAC Chemotherapy?

Looking for pain management solution for 26 year old female undergoing FAC chemotherapy. She is having excruciating headaches, especially during the first week. She cannot take anything containing an NSAID or acetaminophen because she must be able to be monitored for fevers (for signs of infection ). She is allergic to codeine. She is currently being prescribed Ultram, but it is not very effective and causing severe constipation. Her treating ohysician seems to be at a loss. The headaches are seriously affecting her quality of life. Please advise

Hello,

* When she is not in a position to take NSAID or acetaminophen for fever monitoring and Ultram is causing constipation, allergy to codeine; she has not many options left for headache control.

* Morphine will also pause constipation and hence to be avoided.
* Only thing which can help her without any of the side effects would be

- deep breathing exercises with Kapalbhati and Anulom vilom
- YOGA
- meditations
- walking in fresh air with high ozone content
- relaxation techniques
- counselling sessions
- life style modifications

She is a mighty fighter against all odds that must be realised by her at this instance to win the battle against cancer.
