What Causes Severe Headache And Lower Backache While On Effexor?
yes, my boyfriend accidentally stopped taking effexor for 6 days and went into severe withdrawal symptoms . I told him not to start it again without his doctor s approval but he did anyway he doubled the dosage without asking yesterday and todY. WITHDRAWL sutmptoms subsided but now he has a suden onset extreme headach in the back lower portion of his head and back of neck and is acting extremely irritable
Tab. effexor contains venlafaxine whichever is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and used as an antidepressant and anti-anxiety drug. It is not advisable to stop it suddenly as it causes severe withdrawal symptoms like a headache and irritability.
I would advise you to take him to his psychiatrist so that he can adjust his dose and also add some sedatives if required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman,
