What Causes Severe Headache And Nausea?

I have had a severe headache that has lasted five days now. This has caused nausea as well. I have been taking pain killers and finally scheduled myself to see my doctor on Wed. Should I attempt to go in earlier? Is it something I should be more concerned about?

Hello,

Headache associated with nausea is commonly the symptom of migraine. Though you can have severe headache if you are sensitive to certain light, you are dehydrated or when your blood sugar levels are quite low, allergy to certain food, it is also a sign of pregnancy. Eat properly take a balanced diet, take ORS, soups & juices. Stay relaxed.

Avoid addictions (alcohol) if any, take enough sleep, identify & avoid your migraine triggers, exercise regularly, manage stress. Get physically examined to rule out other causes of a headache & to get evaluated for the type & degree of a migraine you are suffering from.

Take acetaminophen (Tylenol), naproxen, triptans (Sumatriptan succinate). It's always good to get an eye check up done in case you need a lens.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
