What Causes Severe Headache And Rash On The Face Of A 4 Year Old Boy?
Hi, My son just turned 4. He had a severe headache for 3 full days. The headache was bad enough to stop him from eating or moving. If he stood up, he screamed in pain. The headache was localized to the top of his head. After day 2 of the headache, he developed a small rash on his face around the left side of his mouth. Within the past year, my son has had a few black out episodes and a couple of seizure like episodes. An EEG test showed normal, however, the EKG showed High voltage and confirmed a heart murmer that can be heard. I am very concerned from the headache. Could this be related to the heart or something further?
This recent onset severe headache may be the first migraine headache episode. It could be due to refractive error of the eye. The rash could be a result of some pain killer given for headache. In view of sudden severe headache of recent onset, child reusing feeds, a physical consultation should be sought as early as practically possible.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
