Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Headache Radiating To Shoulders, Neck And Arms?
Headaches about 2 weeks ago. Never this severe in my life; but slowly subsided to pain down my right/left shoulders. Neck aches. Hard to lift arms sometimes. Sometimes controlled with Tylenol or other meds. Right now upper chest muscle pains. I did stretch and cut a piece of plywood on Oct 5th...really reached to get the corner. On Oct 3 had neck to lower ab CT and MRI of brain. (not for this however)
I suggest you to do:
1. check morning BP from a doctor. Or Home BP machines can be used, in this case, 3 times should checked per session, not one time.
2. ECG just to rule out any heart problem.
3. CT of head to rule any other pathologies.
Is there any intolerability towards light, noise, etc? When mostly this headache starts? Can you describe the nature of headache and the location?
All these results and your answers of the above questions may be interpreted to come into a conclusion. It will be good conclusion.
Meanwhile, you can drink coffee for arresting the pain or NSAID.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
