What Causes Severe Headaches Along With Grand Mal Seizure?
I HAVE BAD HEADACHES AND I HAVE HAD A GRAND MAL SEIZURE. I WAS FEELING BAD AND I CHECKED MY SUGAR LEVEL IT WAS 85 AND I WAS TOLD BY MY MOTHER THAT MAY BE TO LOW FOR MY BODY. SHE DEALS WITH LOW AND HIGH BLOOD SUGAR REGULAR. WHEN I FEEL IT S LOW SHOULD I JUST EAT AND DRINK SOMETHING SWEET TO GET UP HIGHER ALSO DO YOU HAVE THE EXACT LEVELS FOR HIGH AND LOW BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS
It's definitely a concern if you have severe headaches and a grand Mal seizure. These symptoms can occur in the following conditions:
1) Severe hypoglycemia that is lowered glucose levels
2) Intracranial space occupying lesion or a brain tumor
3) Severe hypertension
4) Intracranial hemorrhage or bleeding in brain
The following are the normal levels of sugars:
- Fasting sugars between 80-130mg/dl
- Post prandial up to 180mg/dl
- Hba1c 6.5%
Your sugar level was definitely low. You need to eat or drink glucose immediately at that time. Also, please have a consultation with a neuro-physician once and get yourself examined thoroughly once in person to rule out other major causes of your symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
