I get severe headaches, post nasal drip, foul smell associated with sinusites. The ct scan revealed bilateral concha bullosa, paradoxical right middle turbinate narrowing the osteomeatal unit and cranial part of the nasal airway. Minimal deviation of the nasal septum, mild to moderate hypertrophy of the turbinates at the posterior part of the nasal airway. The doctor suggests surgery, please advise.
Understanding your concern. As per your query symptoms such as headaches and postnasal drip could be due to cold ,nasal polyp, respiratory track infection ,deviation of nasal septum and weak immune system due various disease. As per your CT scan it seems to be due to deviated nasal septum, surgery is advised in such cases. It is a minor cosmetic procedure need not to worry. Treatment of the sinusitis depends upon the cause .If the sinusitis is due to bacterial infection then doctor can prescribe antibiotics along with antihistamines and decongestants. If mucus is thick you can also use mucolytic agent like ambroxol to make mucus thin. Visit ENT specialist and start treatment.
