What Causes Severe Headaches And Swelling On The Tongue?
I have had a bad headache on and off for the last six months, it is on the left side. I have been having the problem with my tongue seeming to be swollen and having difficutity talking but this only last a few seconds. I went to the doctor today. I am getting scheduled for a Doppler on my carotid and also an MRI. The test the doctor did today ruled out a stroke so what can it be? The headaches are severe.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Many types of headaches need proper history to evaluate the cause. Tongue swelling may be due to allergic reaction or angioedema.
A migrainous headache, tension headache, cluster headache, occipital neuralgia, or temporal arteritis etcetera may cause a headache. Please consult your neuro physician so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
