What Causes Severe Headaches And Throat Discomfort?

I have a sphenoid mucoid cyst with mild septal deviation to the right. I have annoying headaces and I am constantly having to clear my throat. This was diagnosed by an ENT via cat scan. His recommendation was to do nothing surgically to remove the fluid. Should I seek further testing and or seek an appointment with a neurologist? Are there any treatments that do not require surgery?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptom of severe headaches and throat discomfort which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection that is usually caused by a virus . The symptoms can also occur due to condition like acid reflux or allergic reaction, TMJ dysfunction or tonsillitis . At home, you can take these steps to relieve sudden discomfort of throat such as

- Do warm saline gargles .
- Drink plenty of water and other fluids each day.
- Try an over-the-counter antihistamine along with ibuprofen.
Take proper course of antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medications. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription.
