What Causes Severe Headaches While On Lisinopril, Metoprolol, Clonidine HCL And Norvasc?

My husband s blood pressure is normally high but recently really spiked . He was taking: Lisinopril 40 mg (1 x day) and Metoprolol 100 mg. 1 x day) Now they added: Clonidine HCL .2 mg (1/4 tablet 2 x daily) and Amlodipine Besylate 5 mg (1 x day). My husband has been getting severe headaches since beginning the new meds, sleeps a lot and is lethargic with no motivation to do anything. He also takes Duloxetine 60 mg (1 x day), Levothyroxine Sodium 125 mg ( 1 x day), Topiramate 50 mg. (2 x day) and Pantoprazole Sod Dr 40 mg (1 x day.) He had his thyroid removed because of cancer. I m thinking this is way too many meds. Please give me your opinion.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are consistent with common causes like a migraine or tension headache, as a first line management you can try analgesics like aceclofenac or tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI brain to rule out possible intracranial (inside the brain) causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
