What Causes Severe Heart Palpitations After Taking Viibryd?

I ve had palpitations before but only every so often. I have high blood pressure and anxiety really bad. I recently started a new med for my anxiety, which is viibryd 40mg/1 a day. Since taking this medicine , the palpitations have increased to daily and last over several minutes long. Makes it hard to breath and feels like I need to cough frequently. Any information on this med causing this and if so , what can I do about this. Thanks gannon

It seems that Viibryd does not cause palpitations. Viibryd is an (SSRI) type antidepressant used to treat the major depressive disorder in adults.

Do not stop taking vilazodone, even when you feel side effects. Only your healthcare provider can determine the length of treatment that is right for you. You should discuss with your Healthcare Provider before you stop your medication.

Most side effects from Viibryd will subside over the course of the treatment and usually do not need medical attention. Anything that causes heart problems has to be looked at, you can not ignore it. I suggest you go to the ER, better safe than sorry.
