What Causes Severe Hiccups Despite Taking Medication?

Hello... been having hiccups for the past two weeks and went to the ER the first time and they gave me Thorazine shot which stopped the hiccups for a day or so than they came back and went to my family physician and he prescribed me Metoclopramide 5 mg four times daily. They went away for a few days and now back. Was wondering where do I need to go from here? Also, both times I went they both drew blood... did nothing else. What do I need to do now?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take drugs like promethazine for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
