Hi,

As per your complain Melacare is a steroid based cream containing Mometasone furoate [steroid]+ Tretonoin and Hydroquinone. Steroid based creams when used for long term makes the skin addicted or used to it leading to Steroid Dependance and once you stop using the cream it causes withdrawal side effects and the same thing you are facing now.

Itching and rashes on your face are due to side effect of the steroid cream and nothing else. I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist who can evaluate you clinically and also advise you a low potency steroid cream that has to be used for a week regularly and then gradually tapering down the use and then will be stopped gradually.

It will help in preventing side effects of sudden withdrawal. As of now you can take anti histamine like Levocetrizine to reduce itching and redness. Do cool compresses on face and wash face with cool water. You can apply cooled aloe vera gel on face to soothe the skin. Avoid any chemical based skin cosmetic.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
