What Causes Severe Itchiness And Sharp Pain In The Arms And Elbow?

Hi. I ve been getting severe itching and some pins and needles sensations in both arms, mostly from the elbows to the wrists. It is much worse at night, and often keeps me awake all night. I have some scabbing now from scratching so much. What do you think this is?

Hello

Thanks for asking a question at HCM

It is pleasure to help you at this moment

Pins and needles sensation is due to neuropathy. There can be may causes for it. You need to consult a neurologist so that he can examine and come to a diagnosis

I also suggest to take a dermatologist opinion for scabbing and itching, it can be a skin infection like tenia or it can be eczema

Few systemic diseases like multiple sclerosis can also cause these symptoms of pins and needles, itching and scabs, but you will have other symptoms as well.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards
Dr Chaithanya
