What Causes Severe Itchiness In The Wrist?

Hi. Just had a sudden itching of the vein in my wrist. Looked at it and it was bluish and swollen. Painful to touch. It was approximately an inch in length and .25-.5 in width. It s been 20 minutes and it s now getting smaller but the itch and pain is still there. It s time this has occurred. Pain in shoulder when I flex hand backwards and pain in crook of arm (opposite elbow) when I flex hand forward. Pain in my thumb as I type (thumb flex forward). I have MS - diag d 8 yrs ago. Sign of a clot?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history, you have insect bite dermatitis. My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
