What Causes Severe Itching All Over Body During 34th Week Of Pregnancy?

Hi, I'm in my 34th week of pregnancy, I have itching all over my body since a week & a gynaec asked me to do blood test for total & direct bilirubin, and bile salt/pigment for which my values are under normal range, she prescribed a lotion & tablet Udiliv twice daily for 10 days, my concern is that could this be liver cholestasis & will it affect my baby negatively,do I still need to complete the course of tablets or if I shud see a specialist, pls suggest a doctor where I can get treated for it in Bangalore. Also want to know if baby needs to be delivered earlier. Thanks, Seema.

I understand your concern.
Chollestasis is a skin condition which is risky for the pregnancy/ baby. Your s. bilirubin/ bile sals and pigments are lesser than normal, that reduces the risk of cholestasis. still to be on safe side, I would advise for liver function test- tp exclude liver problem totally.
Pruritic urticarial papules & plaques of pregnancy ,Prurigo of pregnancy are irruptions with unknown causes & are controlled with anti hisatminic drugs, lotions/ointments. They do not affect pregnancy.They are relieved after delivery.
Rash with Pemphigoid gestationis - has serious complicatios of pregnancy & need to be under care of skin specialist & gynecologist to avoid such complications.& be under regular survilance to check any adverse effect & prevent it.
